Reflection:
Throughout my internship, I have learned the importance of showing up with warmth, respect, and humility when working with clients. I have realized that building a strong therapeutic relationship is not just about the interventions I use, but also about how I make clients feel when they are in session with me. I want my clients to feel accepted, respected, and comfortable being themselves, even when discussing difficult topics.
I have also learned the importance of maintaining emotional regulation and professionalism during challenging situations. Even when sessions bring up difficult emotions or situations, it is important that I remain calm and provide a safe, supportive environment for my clients. I want to be intentional about how I show up in sessions and ensure that my clients feel supported through both my words and actions.
